This village has a population of Macedonian ethnic minority of about 220 people. There is some disagreement between the Republic of Macedonia and that of Bulgaria as to whether the ethnic roots of this group lie in either of these nations. However, the Macedonian ethnic minority, together with those living in the Big Prespa Area have been granted Macedonian citizenship and this seems to have settled the issue of belonging to some extent.
